One of its main objectives is to promote the <strong>waste prevention<\/strong> and the <strong>packaging ecodesign<\/strong>to reduce the environmental impact from the product design phase.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><script id=\"script-row-unique-0\" data-row=\"script-row-unique-0\" type=\"text\/javascript\" class=\"vc_controls\">UNCODE.initRow(document.getElementById(\"row-unique-0\"));<\/script><\/div><\/div><\/div><div data-parent=\"true\" class=\"vc_row row-container\" id=\"row-unique-1\"><div class=\"row limit-width row-parent\"><div class=\"wpb_row row-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_column pos-top pos-center align_left column_parent col-lg-12 single-internal-gutter\"><div class=\"uncol style-light\"  ><div class=\"uncoltable\"><div class=\"uncell no-block-padding\" ><div class=\"uncont\" ><div class=\"vc_custom_heading_wrap\"><div class=\"heading-text el-text\" ><\/p>\n<h2><strong>What is a Prevention and Ecodesign Business Plan (PEPE Plan?)?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\n<\/div><div class=\"clear\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"uncode_text_column\" ><p>A <strong>Prevention and Ecodesign Business Plan (PEPE)<\/strong> is a strategic document to be drawn up by certain producers in order to define concrete measures to reduce<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"uncode_text_column\" ><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the amount of material packaging in the packaging placed on the market, and minimising unnecessary, superficial or merely aesthetic packaging,<\/li>\n<li>the hazardousness of its components or materials,<\/li>\n<li>the generation of waste, or reduce it to the absolute minimum,<\/li>\n<li>and to improve the recyclability, reusability or compostability of packaging and packaging materials.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n<\/div><div class=\"vc_custom_heading_wrap\"><div class=\"heading-text el-text\" ><\/p>\n<h2>When is it mandatory to make a PEPE Plan?<\/h2>\n<p>\n<\/div><div class=\"clear\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"uncode_text_column\" ><p>PEPE is <strong>mandatory<\/strong> for the <strong>product producers<\/strong> that, in a calendar year, <strong>place on the Spanish market quantities of packaging exceeding the following limits:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>250 tonnes for glass only.<\/li>\n<li>50 tonnes for steel only.<\/li>\n<li>30 tonnes for aluminium only.<\/li>\n<li>20 tonnes for plastic only.<\/li>\n<li>20 tonnes in the case of wood only.<\/li>\n<li>15 tonnes for cardboard or composite materials only.<\/li>\n<li>300 tonnes if several materials are involved and each of them individually does not exceed the above quantities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If a producer exceeds any of these thresholds in a calendar year, it is <strong>obliged to submit a PEPE the following year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Each PEPE Plan has a maximum duration of 5 years and needs to be updated if the conditions of the producer, the products or the quantities placed on the market change significantly on an annual basis.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"vc_custom_heading_wrap\"><div class=\"heading-text el-text\" ><\/p>\n<h2><strong>To whom does this obligation apply?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\n<\/div><div class=\"clear\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"uncode_text_column\" ><p>Applies to all <strong>producers of the product, registered in the Register of Producers of Domestic Product and exceeding the above mentioned quantities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, any natural or legal person who, irrespective of the sales technique used, packages products which he places on the Spanish market, imports or acquires packaged products from other countries or manufactures, imports or acquires empty packaging in order to place them on the market and exceeds the abovementioned quantities.<\/p>\n<p>It is not only limited to large manufacturers, but can also apply to distributors, importers or companies that brand their products under private labels or other trade names.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><script id=\"script-row-unique-1\"
